1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account, accessing, or using Someone Is Listening ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use our Service.
2. Description of Service
Someone Is Listening is a platform that connects individuals seeking someone to talk to ("Voices") with trained volunteer listeners ("Listeners"). Our service provides:
- Scheduled one-on-one listening sessions
- A safe, confidential space for conversation
- Access to compassionate volunteers who provide a listening ear
Important Notice:
Someone Is Listening is NOT a crisis service, mental health treatment, therapy, or medical service. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or emergency, please contact emergency services or a crisis helpline immediately.

- Voices: Must be at least 18 years old
- Listeners: Must be at least 21 years old and complete our screening and training process
- You must provide accurate information when creating your account
- You must have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement
- You must not be prohibited from using the Service under applicable laws
4. User Accounts and Security
Account Creation
- You must provide a valid email address and choose a unique pseudonym
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password
- You must verify your email address before using the Service
Account Security
- You are responsible for all activities under your account
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
- We are not liable for losses caused by unauthorized use of your account
5. User Conduct and Prohibited Activities
When using our Service, you agree NOT to:
- Harass, abuse, threaten, or intimidate other users
- Share personal identifying information without consent
- Use the Service for any illegal purpose
- Impersonate another person or entity
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
- Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) without permission
- Provide advice, counseling, therapy, or medical guidance
- Record, screenshot, or save conversations without explicit consent
- Solicit personal information from other users
- Use the Service for commercial purposes without authorization
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
6. Listener-Specific Responsibilities
As a Listener, you agree to:
- Complete required training and screening processes
- Maintain confidentiality of all conversations
- Not provide therapy, counseling, advice, or medical guidance
- Honor scheduled appointments or cancel with adequate notice
- Report any safety concerns or violations to platform administrators
- Follow crisis protocols if a Voice expresses suicidal ideation or intent to harm
- Maintain appropriate boundaries with Voices
- Participate in ongoing training and supervision as required
7. Scheduling and Cancellations
Scheduling
Voices can book available time slots with Listeners. All appointments are subject to Listener availability and confirmation.
Cancellations
- Either party may cancel an appointment with at least 24 hours notice
- Repeated no-shows or late cancellations may result in account restrictions
- We reserve the right to remove users who consistently fail to honor commitments
8. Intellectual Property
All content, features, and functionality of the Service, including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, and software, are owned by Someone Is Listening or our licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or exploit any content from the Service without our express written permission.
9. Disclaimers and Limitations
Not Professional Services
Listeners are volunteers, not licensed therapists or medical professionals. The Service does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or crisis intervention.
No Guarantees
We do not guarantee specific outcomes, availability of Listeners, or uninterrupted access to the Service. The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
User Responsibility
You are solely responsible for your use of the Service and any decisions you make based on conversations with Listeners.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Someone Is Listening and its operators, volunteers, and partners shall not be liable for:
- Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
- Loss of profits, data, or goodwill
- Service interruptions or errors
- Actions or conduct of users or third parties
- Any damages arising from your use of the Service
Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid to use the Service (currently $0).
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Someone Is Listening and its operators, volunteers, and partners from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses arising from your use of the Service, violation of these Terms, or violation of any rights of another person or entity.
12. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including:
- Violation of these Terms of Service
- Fraudulent, abusive, or illegal activity
- Extended periods of inactivity
- At your request to delete your account
Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease, and we may delete your account and associated data.
13. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
14. Dispute Resolution
Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved through:
